I’ve been working in a factory with a man for over fifteen years. We are not very close, but it so happens that almost any secrets and events in the team are discussed, so I knew that he raised his son himself. His wife left him when he was under five, and the man took over the upbringing. He was not a strict man, but he hoped to raise the boy to be someone smart, who would not have to work in the shops, but rather in a comfortable office. Throughout those fifteen years I occasionally heard that his son was excelling in the exact sciences and was going to go to a good university, and his father was working double shifts to save up money for tuition in case his son didn’t get into free school.
A few months before graduation, the boy abruptly changed his plans and said that he would not enroll after graduation, but would go into the army. His girlfriend allegedly believes that every self-respecting man is obligated to serve and as early as possible. The son first brought this girl home to meet her, to brag to his father about her beauty. But what is the use of beauty, if she has only one school uniform and a large family at home, which does not give life?
A colleague kept quiet for a long time, but he went along with his son when he offered to take seventeen-year-old Julia to them. First she occupied the couch in the living room, later moved into the boy’s room, and began to twist it as she could. So it came to the suggestion that the money that was lying around just in case, be spent on Julia’s enrollment. She had always dreamed of becoming a nurse, but she didn’t have enough points to get into medicine. Her father reluctantly, but gave the money, sent his son to the army, hoping that things would soon get better, only Julia took the money, got rid of her “beloved” and is now brainwashing the owner of the apartment. She offers to exchange it for two one-room flats so that when the army is over the young couple will have a place to live.
She came to the flat without a penny to her name, and she still has enough conscience to suggest such things. My colleague, of course, is not a stupid man, he guesses that Julia is dishonest, but when my son returns from the army and also begins to insist on separation, he will probably agree.
Too bad for the man, an only son, and so unlucky with that one. But even more sorry for his future daughter-in-law.
