My husband’s sister did not want to pay for the cake I made, although I pay the full amount for her manicure

Recently with me happened not the most pleasant story, which showed the true face of one of my relatives. The thing is that she took money from me, and when I stuttered about the payment, I was sent to hell. However, it is better to tell everything from the beginning.

I managed to get along with my husband’s sister right after we met. She then became a master nail service and very proud of it. I just went with regular nails, so I decided to make an appointment with her for a manicure.

At that time, my sister-in-law was a beginner with no experience, but I trusted her and did not regret it, because the result came out as in the picture, just perfect. And when it came time to pay, she showed her rates and charged me less than other customers do not want to. The price was adequate, so I paid without any further questions, even though I was hoping for a small discount.

Over time, she got her hands full, expanded her client base and rented another studio, and I continued to do her nails, because despite the increased cost for the services she provided, I was fine with everything. She always offered ideas, picked up colors if I could not decide on the choice, and in general was kind to me.

A few years later I started baking cakes and pastries. I was on maternity leave, and my baby was already grown, so I didn’t need round-the-clock care and supervision. Plus, my husband’s parents and mine were constantly trying to take her to visit. But I don’t like to bum around all day, so I decided that my hobby could be turned into a steady income.

A couple of times a week a housekeeper comes over and cleans every square meter, thereby relieving me of the daily chores. Thanks to her, I spent all my free time making desserts. Perfect it was not at first, but patience and work will overpower everything. A month later I bragged about my first achievements to my husband. He praised me, and inspired even more, I started to work with double zeal.

At first, I gave my products to my loved ones to try out. They were delighted and asked me to bake something else. And then I started to find my first customers who paid real money for my desserts and left good reviews. And when I once again came to my sister-in-law for a manicure, she asked me to make a huge cake especially for her.

-Can you make one just like the one in the picture?
-There are a lot of three-dimensional elements and shapes, and the ingredients are not cheap, but I will definitely think of something.
-Oh, thank you so much. You’ll be done by Friday, right?
-I think so. I’m short on orders, so I’ll take your cake.

Most pastry chefs charge at least for the ingredients, but she’s not a stranger after all, so I thought that my sister-in-law would give the full amount when I received the order in hand. I spent almost twenty-four hours on her cake. First I made the cakes, then the filling and frosting, but the most difficult part of it all was to make the details, with which I spent several hours.

I was pleased with what came out in the end, and my relative couldn’t stop praising me and my talent.
-You are a master of your craft, I would not have made such a cake, thank you again!
-I think it turned out pretty good, too. All right, let me see how much you owe me.
-What are you talking about, I don’t understand?
-The price of the cake. I didn’t make it for free.
-You’re seriously gonna charge someone close to you now?
-Did you think I worked hard and spent a lot of money on ingredients and I’d give it to you for nothing? Besides, you’re charging me full price for my nails, and I even gave you a discount.
-Do you even know how much money goes into nail polish and equipment and studio rent. And you took a couple of products and made a cake out of them. Then what am I paying for?

I decided not to continue the conversation, but my sister-in-law didn’t get her order. Now she thinks I’m a selfish person who can’t do anything nice for her relatives.
