Almost all of us were students and remember what student times are like. These are the most bright and colorful years of life. Of course, even back then it was hard sometimes, but back then everything was perceived differently. We saw life through the prism of “rose-colored glasses”, and all the hardships were “knee-deep”.
We passed exams, made friends, fell in love, learned our first life lessons, and “bumped into things”. Those were wonderful and unforgettable times. Why have I written all this? Let me tell you what happened recently.
A distant relative called me and began to cry into the phone, her voice shaking with sobs. Of course, I asked her what was wrong. She replied that it wasn’t a phone call. I began to worry, God forbid a relative had some kind of grief. In less than an hour my relative, her husband, and her daughter were already on my doorstep.
I invited them in and asked:
-What happened?
– Honey, we have a terrible problem – said the relative.
– Our daughter went to university, and in the dormitory terrible conditions. Daughter was given just a terrible room. There is absolutely no repair, the wallpaper is peeling, there is not even any paint on the floor, everything is shabby. Well, how can our daughter live in such conditions? She is used to coziness, the warmth of home. We have decided that it is better for her to live with you. You are not a stranger to us. And we will live in peace, knowing that our daughter is looked after.
I just shuddered at the sudden impertinence. So they thought it was convenient, but no one asked my permission. Did I need it? I offered them a great option:
– Have your daughter stay with me for a few days. During this time you will make cosmetic repairs in her room. She will not live there alone, and with one more girl, so we can make it even cheaper.
– And why should we invest in that room? After all, she’s going to move out anyway.
-That’s true, but the study lasts 5 years, and that’s a decent amount of time.
My relatives didn’t like my offer, so they took offense and left. But I think I did the right thing.
