Grandfather and I brought our grandchildren to stay with us. Well, of course we were glad. Let the children run around on the grass, eat fruits and vegetables from their own garden, without nitrates and chemicals. We do not have a cow of our own, so I made a deal with a neighbor that I would buy fresh milk, cottage cheese and sour cream from her every other day or two. After all, the kids love cheesecakes and homemade yogurt with strawberries will do.
Our neighbor also has a grandson, a boy, who is about the same age as ours. Our children play in the yard, there is laughter, noise, fun, and this boy Adam keeps looking through the gap from the fence. I could see that he was bored. Of course, I called him to us to play. He happily came running.
I fed everyone for lunch, then at noon, and a neighbor took him away at 8 pm. In the morning at 9 o’clock Adam was already at our place uninvited. Mine hadn’t had breakfast yet, so I invited Adam along with them. He stayed with us all day. I fed everyone for lunch again, made cheesecakes for noon and fed them dumplings in the evening.
Grandpa gave them different tasks, and the children got involved all day long. They searched for treasure on a desert island, or sent a rocket into space. The next day, Adam also stayed with us until late at night.
Today I came to my neighbor for milk, and she said as if nothing had happened, that Adam likes to play at your place, let him play together with yours, and everyone will be fine. Otherwise, he gets bored with me. I don’t seem to feel sorry, but you know, all day long watching someone else’s child – for me it is a big responsibility.
And then I worry all day long that he won’t be hungry and will be safe and sound, so to speak.
Then, I thought about it and said: Aday one day at your place, and then back to us …
And she was confused: THEN I will borrow them all, and you always have noise and fun in the yard.
So I told her where we get ideas for activities with the kids. There are different activities for children of all ages and we specifically bought so the kids don’t get bored.
Now it’s easy for us, and the kids are constantly engaged, and the most important thing for us is that they are not bored.
