I lie to my son that I eat well and take pills on a schedule, because he can’t help anyway

I know for a fact that I am not alone in lying to my only child, who is carrying his family with three children, that I am living well, not making ends meet, as it is in reality. Kids these days don’t really care about their parents, and you don’t want to stress them out. My son has never in his life been interested in what my pension is. Previously, when I lived with my wife, we gave one pension to pay the rent and lived on the other, but now I have to choose between paying for utilities or buying myself some extra vegetables. My diet already consists of bread and cereal, and I don’t even worry about that anymore, only about the prices of food, which are growing like by leaps and bounds.

As an old man, I have many prescriptions for heart pills, but I can not afford them, or I save pills by taking them not every day, as the doctor said, but only when it really gets bad. Still, I am ashamed to ask my son for money. I know it’s not easy for him either. My daughter-in-law is sitting with my third child out of work, and the older ones go to school, where you have to invest money, and feeding a family of five is more difficult and important than me.

The only thing I feel bad about is the debt for the apartment, which my son will get together with his inheritance. And he has no idea about it yet…
