I joked with my daughter that I would sell her in Egypt for a few camels while we were on vacation, and she actually got married there

I had an early relationship with Victoria’s father, and I got married early, so I expected my daughter to start dating boys at fourteen or sixteen at the most, but she didn’t get along. No matter who she met, the boys seemed too boring and uninteresting to her. And then she went to university and all she could think about was studying, then university, dreams of moving, and again she didn’t care about guys.

When Victoria was twenty-two, for the winter holidays we bought two trips to Egypt and the two of us went on vacation for a week. My daughter was so beautiful and attractive to those guys that they kept asking her out and giving her all kinds of signs of attention, but Victoria refused them all. There was even a joke between us that they give camels to girls here, so I would marry Victoria off and bring my father some camels.

I was joking when I found out when I got home that Victoria had met someone there and she even liked him. He was a camel-riding tourist. My daughter went on a date with him only once, and then they communicated online for about five months. Victoria went out to Sekhmet again in the summer and came back with an engagement ring.

She has been living in Egypt for four years now with the man she loves, their firstborn is about to turn two, and I have never felt so happy as a mother and grandmother. No one gave us camels personally, but Sekhmet has a business there with these animals, and the daughter is attached, one way or another.
