My wife was often away at work. Ben took care of the kids. He had a remote job. He had a lot of time and could pay more attention to the children, who had just started going to school. Lately his wife had become especially cold and distant, and it was true that she was getting more money, but they were seeing less and less of Monica at home. Ben thought it was from fatigue and overload, and often suggested that his wife go on a vacation together, and send the children to grandmother. His wife was also often away on business. When Monica decided to talk to him in the evening, he thought she was quitting. The news of her departure from the family literally knocked him out of his mind.
Ben stared at his wife, stunned, “What about the kids?
– Children with you. You’re working remotely. – Wife answered.
– How long have you decided?
– Yes, for over a year I have been dating my boss.
– But he’s twice your age!
– Yes, but with him I have a prospect!
– Monica, and about children did you think? – Ben raised his tone.
– He doesn’t like children, so they’ll live with you for now. – she cut them short.
– Apparently, you don’t love them either. – her husband sighed sorrowfully.
At first Monica did not call for a week, but then she must have missed her and began to call and talk to the children at length over the phone. One day, when the children were at school, Monica came home with a suitcase.
– I can’t be without them, Ben,” she sighed.
– So, you are a mother, not a cuckoo, and you need them as much as they need you.
– Please forgive me, I did a terrible foolish thing.
– I forgave you a long time ago. We are your family, and there is nothing more precious than family. – Ben smiled.
