Everyone turned on me after my husband cheated on me. Was it really my fault?

When a love relationship is fractured, and even an eight-year-old child, who waits very much for her father from work every night, cannot save everything, how should a weak, broken woman do it? That’s exactly what I was after I got a message from a woman I didn’t know on my computer messenger that was open. She was not writing to me, but to her husband, informing me: “Honey, we’re finally going to be parents!”

I didn’t initially want to hold a grudge or do my own investigation, so I immediately asked my husband what it was about, but since the correspondence was generally blank, my husband referred to a mistake-someone had written to the wrong place.

My husband has been extremely erratic in recent months. He got a new job, initially promised that the schedule would be acceptable, but ended up leaving early in the morning, coming back late at night and going straight to bed. He also works part-time on the weekends. He has no time to go out with his daughter or at least spend time with us at home. I used to feel pity and sympathy for him, because he works so hard to provide for us, but after the message I couldn’t relax and get myself all worked up.

As soon as my husband left, I rewrote my contact nickname and texted the woman from my number. Asked if she knew my husband, introduced herself as his wife. The message hung read-only for a while, with no response, but about fifteen minutes later the girl called me. She sounded confused and surprised.

– Are you Max’s wife? I didn’t know,” she sniffed her nose a lot. – We worked together, he was very nice and… never said he had a family…

It didn’t matter if that girl was lying or telling the truth, my husband had let me down in the first place. It took one look from me in the evening for him to know that I knew everything. He had to leave. My daughter couldn’t stop me.

But the worst thing started afterwards. My mom, my mother-in-law, my best friend all jumped on me with accusations. It was my fault for not giving my husband enough time, so he left. He was working with no rest, and I was sitting at home, living off his money and didn’t notice anything was going on for so long. My ex-mother-in-law pressured me more than anyone else, saying that I was the one who ruined the family and now my granddaughter would live without her father. My mother hinted more that I had lost my husband than he had lost me.

Was it really my fault? I couldn’t get inside Max’s head and find out what he was thinking. He seemed tired and happy and quite ordinary to me. And now it’s too late anyway-he’s got a mistress, and soon he’ll be parents with her…
