A very rich woman was interested in me, she wanted to marry me, but I was young, stupid and did not think about money.

I often hear stories that some wealthy men are looking for younger and greener brides in order to bribe them with their status, money, and cars. They show it in movies, they write about it in books, and it happens in life. What I hadn’t heard before was that rich women were also trying to get poor guys half their age.

I was working in a restaurant as a waiter when one of them met me. A lot of people liked me because of my looks, which often left me tips, and this rich woman took a fancy to me. At first she was in a meeting and could not show any interest, but when her companion left first, the woman began to hint explicitly that she liked me, asking if I had a girlfriend, where I lived, whether I was studying… Staying polite, as my work forced me to, I delicately replied that I was at work and could not discuss personal topics. It was because of this stranger was delayed until the end of my work day and I miraculously managed to escape through the back door.

I don’t know how many days in total she went to our restaurant, but I served her countless times on my shifts while the other guys on the staff laughed that my “elderly girlfriend” was here to tip me.

Apparently, she really was rich; she brought me gifts – expensive suits, some bracelets. But I did not take anything, and one evening after work himself stayed behind to tell her that I am not interested in her. The most ridiculous thing was that she tried to counterbalance my words with her wealth, saying that I would regret it if I did not marry her, because she was a “rich widow.

I didn’t need money that way, and I don’t need it now. It’s been four years, I’m married to the girl I love, work in an office, and never once in my life have I regretted blowing off a stranger. In good conscience, earning money rather than inheriting it from a mistress is much nicer, that’s first, and second, you can’t buy love for any money. It either exists or it doesn’t exist and never will. A lot of rich people should realize this and stop trying to get someone by waving colored papers in the air.
