My mother-in-law is complaining about my granddaughter, wanting us to drop everything in the middle of the vacation and come and get the baby. Our girl is too naughty, you see.

Just once in my life we asked my mother-in-law for help, and she can’t do anything right. She danced around me with tambourine more than anyone else, waiting until I got pregnant, and now she does not want to sit with her granddaughter. I understand that she does not have to, because she was not hired as a babysitter, so we have never asked her to do anything. While Monica was small, with her cope with me and my mother, when she became older, in the nursery we sent it, but in connection with the long-awaited vacation my husband and I really wanted to escape for four days somewhere without a five-year-old child. My mom was at work, so we had to strain my mother-in-law with the baby. We offered her not to take Monica to day care, just taking her to her place, but after a day the woman howled on the phone.

You see, Monica is uncultured, she’s not a “lady” at all. She doesn’t hold her fork right, she doesn’t want to practice reading, she doesn’t want to watch their concerts instead of her mother-in-law and father-in-law, and she also drew markers on her dresser. And it’s all in this sauce, as if I or my husband were babysitting and allowed it all to happen. We know perfectly well what our daughter is capable of – Monica is agile, active, but independent. She can play quietly by herself, and then it turns out that she has already moved all my cosmetics or tore her father’s favorite book. But that’s why we asked to keep an eye on her, not to put her in the next room and pretend she doesn’t exist.

My mother-in-law demands that we pick up our child immediately or she will give her son a scandal, and what can we do? We are in the mountains, the tickets are in two days, there is no way to come earlier anyway. Wanted a vacation, and got a headache on the phone.

Has my mother-in-law forgotten how restless and stubborn children can be? She told stories about my husband, and he, too, was no gift. And now she can’t sit with her granddaughter for half a week – in her opinion, our daughter is too naughty.
