My husband and I have lived in the same apartment for over twenty years. I remember standing in line for it, making repairs, decorating everything for life. We also raised our only son in it, who upon his return from the army, brought his bride home. The bride was very young, just out of high school, from a dysfunctional family. I took care of her as if she were my own daughter, but she still lacked something.
When she came into the house, a lot of things changed. It was as if the son was changed, before he was a good boy, he respected us, but soon he began to do everything only for his wife, everything for her comfortable existence. And the more he distanced himself from us, spending all the money on the girl, the more often he was rude to us, to prove that the apartment was his by right, because he was our heir and threatened my father and me with eviction. Moreover, my husband and I began to feel worse – constantly having headaches, weakness, severe fatigue, up to fainting. At home with my son was not getting along, and only at work everything seemed more or less ordinary.
I once shared my bad feeling and complaints with my mother on the phone, and she urged me to arrange a check in the children’s room, to look for some strange things. She hinted at conspiracies and curses, but I didn’t believe in such things. And yet I was speechless when, after the children’s room, I began to clean mine and my husband’s, and found needles stuck in the pillows on the top shelf of the closet, where the clean linens were kept.
My mother sent a woman she knew to visit us who performed home cleansing rituals. She said that there was an aura of hatred in the house, and she walked around the apartment with a candle. For some days after her visit we felt ourselves as before and even my son began to behave more tenderly, but a week later the feeling of malice returned.
When we went to see the woman who had helped us, we discussed the latest changes in life, the guests who had visited the house, and we talked about my daughter-in-law, about my son’s behavior. She said that we had to leave urgently, not to live together anymore and not to let the girl on the doorstep of her new home.
My son demanded his own place anyway, so it was decided to sell our three-room apartment and buy two one-room apartments. By some miracle my son even managed to get two rooms, and my husband and I settled into a nice one-room apartment, which was good enough for us. And everything finally began to come back to normal. Feeling, feeling in general.
We had just had time to relax when my son showed up on our doorstep – my daughter-in-law had gotten an apartment and demanded a divorce. She had already got a new man, she was expecting children from him, and the son, such an idiot, had allowed her to mess with her mind and rewrite the apartment to her, because she was the main person in their marriage.
She tried to drive us out of the apartment, tried to curse our family – I still can’t say for sure. But my daughter-in-law really screwed up our lives. I will never forget those needles and words about hatred in the house. She obviously hated us and wanted to take away ours. So she got what she wanted and let us go.
