I have been married for three years now, and so far it has been the worst time of my life. When we were dating, we each lived with our parents, went on a date and therefore loved each other very much, but after we got married and lived together in a rented apartment, our relationship changed a lot. Rebecca stayed at home for a while, just graduating from university and settling into “adult life,” so I didn’t pressure her to pay. She went to job interviews, looking for herself, while I paid rent and rent. After the first serious talk about money, she took over the payment of utility bills, and the rent, which was four times higher, was still paid by me.
Time flew by, and a whole year had passed since her graduation. We hadn’t planned any children yet, or anything else, but I was getting tired of my wife always being at home doing nothing. As far as I knew, she was taking some freelance orders, just enough to cover the rent, and she was asking me for money for food and clothes. Once I had another fight with her about it, Rebecca was suddenly hired as a sales manager. The job is not very stable, the rate is zero, all hope is a percentage of sales, and it’s like Rebecca does not work out. At work they scold her for it, every month they promise to cut her back for bringing in so few clients, her salary, again, is barely enough to cover the utility bill and some groceries, and at the same time she does nothing at home at all. Sometimes she sits and stares at the wall, and if she catches my eye, she asks me rudely why I am staring at her. She doesn’t respond to compliments like, “Because you’re beautiful.
Maybe work is so exhausting for her. Maybe I shouldn’t have pushed so hard. I feel like she’s as unhappy with me as I am with her. We have only lived together for a little while, I do not want to break up because of such nonsense, but how to improve our marriage, I do not know.
