My girlfriend’s husband is a real alphonse. He’s not unemployed, he’s a “job seeker”; he’s not lying on the couch, he’s “writing a resume”. And he still doesn’t have a job because no one is hiring, not because he supposedly doesn’t want to work. My friend believes all this nonsense that he tells her and refuses to see the truth. I have already told her a hundred times that he who seeks, will find. Take my husband, for example. After the downsizing he was depressed too, after all, he had worked for seven years in the same company, at a more or less stable place with a good salary, and here he was kicked out with a minimum allowance and references, and look what you want. It was extremely difficult for him to compete with younger applicants for one position or another, because he was already in his forties and his thinking was not “creative” enough. That said, he never tried to sit on my neck and dangle his feet. When he wasn’t interviewing, he was moonlighting.
When he was young, he always helped his father maintain the garden, knew how to prune apple and plum trees, and did ornamental tree pruning. During his time of unemployment, he posted ads on a website looking for a variety of goods and services, and drove to prune trees at least three times a week. With his amateurism, he couldn’t earn as much as he did at his previous job, but he never sat idle, and a month and a half after he was laid off, he got a new job, which he still holds to this day.
There is no doubt that someone may simply have no luck with the search, someone who is a really terrible worker and won’t be taken anywhere, but that doesn’t mean that you can sit at home all your life, eat at someone else’s expense and only moan that nothing is working out. Someone who really wants to work will always find something.
