I am pregnant with my second child. I am now six months pregnant. As you can imagine, we are going through a period right now where money comes in and money goes out. But the story is more about something else. The other day my husband came home from work and announced:
– My mother and Maria (my husband’s niece) are coming to see us. But you do not get upset. You can not. I will take care of everything, she will not say or do anything.
– You’re not allowed? Yeah, and you get upset.
My husband has an older brother. He doesn’t work, lives with his mom, has 3 kids, but he hasn’t made a penny in his life. For all 3, you can safely say, my husband and I paid for all 3.
– Only you do not give her money, please, – I said, – there, my son needs to buy a jacket, and I can not fit into an old coat.
– Let’s go tomorrow for new clothes, and at the same time and buy something for the table. Mom is still going, we can’t meet her with an empty table.
My son and I returned home happy. My husband never denies us anything, we have always had enough attention from him. My mother-in-law came in and immediately became indignant about my belly. She didn’t think we needed a second child at this “difficult time” and told us to get rid of the baby, but we didn’t listen to her.
– Mom, I have money, I can provide for my family. You better think about your brother. He’s got three kids, and he can’t get off the couch.
– That’s what I wanted to talk about, – we understood at once that the mother-in-law obviously didn’t come because she was bored,
– Monica (my brother’s wife) is pregnant. We took out a loan – Maria had nothing to wear, and we can’t pay it back.
– I knew it,” my husband said, and I tried not to interfere in their conversation,
– Mom, I need the money myself. There, my son is wearing a new jacket, you think it fell from the sky?
– What does he need a new jacket for? You could have asked us, we have black jackets, he could have worn them out, but Maria…
– That’s not why I work, so my son can wear old clothes. What about Maria? She’s very well dressed, there’s nothing to complain about.
– Son, that’s what I mean. We took out a loan for clothes for all of us, but we can’t find any money anywhere… so we thought you could help.
– You shouldn’t, Mama. My brother ain’t getting no money from me. Let him look for a job, because he is sitting on your neck, and he is already a grown man.
My mother-in-law understood that her husband was telling the truth, but she did not want to hurt the eldest, because she is a mother – she loves both equally, no matter what. My husband bought my mother and niece tickets, took them to the train station, but didn’t give them any money. I may be selfish, but I think that everyone should take care of his family by himself, and not sit on his parents’ necks or wait for help from relatives.
