So I said that my father and I will buy new furniture, and you can have ours. But my daughter-in-law isn’t happy. She says her mother would never give her daughter a decrepit piece of junk.
But our old furniture is still in good condition. Then the furniture cost a pretty penny, but our family is well off, we could afford it. Of course, time has passed and it’s time to change the environment around us. We want something new in the house, and have the money to do it.
And the previous furniture looks decent! It will serve for many years. It’s a shame to throw it away! You won’t get much profit from selling it. Fussing about, looking for buyers, putting up photos. Who needs all that trouble?
– You just want to sell us unnecessary garbage – says Alice.

So when my daughter-in-law tries to rebuke and say that her mother thinks otherwise, we only have to shrug our shoulders.
The children did some simple repairs in the apartment.
They whitewashed the walls and laid linoleum. But there is no money for furniture. The son doesn’t want to borrow anything else, while they live among the bare walls with a few stools and a mattress. Well, you have to start somewhere. However, I decided to help them out here, too.
– I have a built-in kitchen, it can be dismantled and re-installed at your place,” I tell the young people. – It’s still more affordable than a new one. I have an extractor hood and a stove. And the bedroom furniture is as good as new.
The son seemed happy, but my daughter-in-law is not happy. The mother-in-law understands that this causes quarrels in the young family. Alice probably thinks that older people do not need furniture. She thinks it would be more correct the other way around – for the young family to buy new furniture.
But what if she’s right? Maybe it really does not look good from the outside that we give his son what we do not need, and buy a modern and new for themselves? I have not thought about it. Although, I think my daughter-in-law could be a little happy!
