– Let your mother live on one pension! Let her rely only on herself! We don’t owe your mother anything! – I told my husband.

Recently I called my mother-in-law and told her that she could no longer come to us and that she no longer needed to babysit our son. Ten years ago my mother-in-law retired. And three months later I gave birth to a son.

When my mother-in-law worked, she had a good salary. But the pension was small and with time my mother-in-law began to complain that she was very short of money to live on. One of her friends advised her to offer herself to us as a nanny. We had to pay my mother-in-law for this. My mother-in-law liked the idea and came to us and suggested it.

– You could go out to work and I could babysit my grandson!

My husband and I thought about it and accepted his mother’s offer. I went to work, and my mother-in-law babysat our son for money. Six months later I was promoted and started getting paid well. Of course, we were paid very well for my mother-in-law’s services as a nanny. I have to admit that my mother-in-law made a great nanny for my son. She fed him beautifully, played with him, took him for outdoor walks all the time, and did all kinds of things for his development.

Two weeks ago my son turned ten years old. He is already independent and mature. And so he does not need a nanny. That is why I called my mother-in-law and told her not to come to us, that we did not need a nanny, and we would not pay her anymore. My mother-in-law was very offended when she realized that we were not going to help her financially either.
My husband wanted us to help his mother, at least a little. And I refused.

– Your mother took money from us for babysitting her own grandson, even though she knew that it was very hard for us for six months. But she still took money from us! Now let her learn to live on her pension! – I said.
