My daughter is my life. Now literally. That winter I had to take a sick day because Alina came down with a sore throat. She had a high fever, we called an ambulance for her more than once. My wife continued to go to work, as she was running an important project, and I looked after the baby. During the day I made sure she ate well and gargled her throat, took her temperature down if she needed it, and unnoticed I got sick too. I wasn’t really worried about myself.
That winter morning I felt very sick. I gave Alina some antipyretics and took a pill myself, which wasn’t enough. I had no energy to do anything, and my daughter and I sat in bed while she played with dolls. At some point my eyes were all swollen and I fell into total darkness. And Alina wasn’t confused. She called my mother from her tablet, telling her that I was asleep and wouldn’t wake up, even when she tickled me. This really scared my wife, and she called an ambulance home and rushed to us from work herself.
The doctors said my temperature rose to 41 and I almost burned. Alina prevented such an outcome with her call, without even realizing how much it helped me.
