My wife is disabled. I used to think that she had lost faith in life and love, but now I realize that she just likes to test my patience

I’ve been married a little over nine years. Initially it was a good relationship in which I felt happy and needed. I spent a lot of time with my wife on dates and always rushed home after work. Maybe my feelings would have remained as strong if I hadn’t found my wife in bed with a stranger. Apparently, she hadn’t loved me for a long time, so she decided to do this… We had a big fight that night, and I kicked her out of the house. I made a total mistake, because because of my behavior my wife was upset and angry, she could not cope with the driving on a winter road and got into an accident. Her hands were badly hurt – several fingers and left hand were broken, and her legs – the doctors said because of the multiple fractures there was a chance she would never be able to walk again.

I couldn’t leave her like that, and her injuries seemed to bring us together, rehabilitate our relationship. I didn’t know then that it was a temporary effect and that big grief makes you forget about the little one. So I cared for my wife, tried in every way to get her back on her feet so that she could live like everyone else again, get back to work and back to everyday life, but she did not want to. She said it was too hard for her, she couldn’t do it. I thought it was because she was depressed and disillusioned with life, and then I started noticing that she was purposely doing a lot of nasty things. Purposely flipping food on the bed and carpets, purposely walking under herself, purposely moaning about how hurt she is when I have plans to go somewhere. She’s the one who cheated on me, not me cheating on her, so why do I feel like I’m getting revenge?

I don’t see my friends anymore, all my work is at home, and I’ve been locked in four walls with my wife for over a year now. She is not going to get up, she is not making any effort, she has decided to be laid up for the rest of our lives, apparently. And I do not want so. As before, I intend to part, but how will relatives and friends react to it? She will be a white and fluffy, unhappy woman, and I’m a jerk because I refused to take care of her. And no one will care that she cheated on me before the accident…
