They were returning home after celebrating my grandfather’s birthday in the village. The time was early, seven o’clock. They were driving along the highway when they saw a young woman on the road. She was trying to stop the car, waving her arms. My brother’s wife asked him not to stop, saying it was dangerous. But my brother slowed down to see what was going on. The girl’s face was covered with cuts and bruises.
She told him, choking on tears, that she and her family had been in an accident. Their car had run off the road and rolled into a ravine. She said that her husband was dead, but the child was alive, and asked my brother to save him. She pointed to the scene. My brother got down from the car, told the woman to stay with his wife, and went to the accident site. He did indeed find the car there.
