It’s true what they say: While we have everything, we don’t notice or appreciate it.

Max and I were crazy about each other when we were young. We didn’t think about family, the future, or children, we just enjoyed our relationship. Even when we got married, it was purely so that he wouldn’t be jealous of me anymore and knew for sure that I was his. We were truly in love and burned with our love for years. It probably would have gone on like that for a very long time if only my mother hadn’t tried to set us up for children. She insisted that we had to become parents, that all the children of her acquaintances already had families, and that we were the only ones sitting alone.

Max was fine with the baby, and I was, in principle, fine with it, too. But having a daughter brought our relationship to a grinding halt. I was taking care of the baby, Max was always away at work or with friends, and we were gradually drifting apart. It seemed to me that he no longer loved me, didn’t care about me, didn’t pay attention to me. The baby didn’t evoke much emotion from him either. People in the park were more emotional! And that’s where I met Philip.

He was crazy about my daughter and complimented me all the time, and I treated him to coffee or lemonade in return. We were very friendly at first, but in an attempt to make my husband jealous, I flirted with another man myself. Max, of course, did not see this and did not know, but it pleased my ego. And it was so “comforting” that Philip talked me into leaving my husband. The guy didn’t want a baby, and I was happy to scare Max not only with my leaving, but also with the responsibility that would fall on his shoulders for his daughter.

Max never asked me to change my mind, and he certainly didn’t beg. He only asked if I was sure I loved some guy from the park, and I answered in the affirmative because I wanted to make him emotional.

It didn’t work. Max let me go, and I dumped Philip after two months. I really regret not appreciating what my husband did for me and the baby. Even though he seemed colder lately, it was only because he worked hard to provide for us, and still we had days and evenings when I felt the most loved again. And I traded them for some Philip who thought he was too much of himself…

I miss not only my daughter, but also my ex-husband. I can’t get them back, because I don’t want to ask to go home, and Max will never offer me anything in my life. I’ve already told him that I left the guy, but he hasn’t responded. Is he so offended or is he just cold to me and letting me know that he can’t get it back?
