Few children actually carry their childhood hobbies through life. But everyone who saw my five-year-old daughter braiding her hair told me she was sure to grow up to be a hairdresser. She was adept at braiding dolls’ hair, and later her younger sister’s. Sarah practiced on her girlfriends, and from the fifth grade on she cut her dad’s hair with a power tool, and when everyone else stayed for the tenth and eleventh grades, she left to take courses and get a job in a salon as soon as possible.
She was never limited to quick and easy haircuts, always experimenting, and growing professionally. Now she does hair for models, conducts seminars and proves every day to those who think that hairdressing is a simple job that brings nothing, that it is not so. She is only twenty-three, but she has already met so many interesting people and earns a lot of money.
So those who joked about Sarah becoming a hairdresser were right.
