A mess in the closet, mountains of unironed clothes and sour soup in the fridge – this is not the kind of wife I married, but this is exactly what I got over time
A mess in the closet, mountains of unironed clothes and sour soup in the fridge – I decided to delicately make a remark to my wife, and as a result, I was also guilty
I fell in love with Mary right away. Such a beauty was impossible to ignore. For a very long time I was convinced that I was very lucky to have a girl: smart, attractive, neat. I didn’t drag it out for long and proposed to her.
Then we decided to move in together. By the way, Mary immediately said that she was not too keen on housework and was ready to work at her job, as long as we only shared the responsibilities in half. I’m not the proud type, so I agreed. At the time, I thought it was a very smart and right thing to do, but later I was very disappointed.
So we agreed on who would do what in our new family. My wife assured me that it would not be too difficult for her to combine her responsibilities with her career, which she had been dreaming about. So I didn’t argue with her either.
But after six months of marriage, I realized that something had gone wrong. Life had made its own adjustments to our rules. My Marie never became successful. She worked part-time in some unknown company with an unstable schedule and payments. And she spent the money she earned exclusively on her own whims. I had to work from morning till night. But my beloved did not forget about the distribution of obligations. She remembered exactly what I had to do. And sometimes she would turn a blind eye to her own.
Mary used to do her part really diligently, but then her enthusiasm began to wane. I didn’t really bother her about it until her slacking off became apparent. The mess was now just striking at every turn.
There were mountains of clothes on the chairs and piles of unironed clothes in the closet, but my wife managed to blame it all on me. Like, I also work, I bring money, is it really hard for you to help me? I was offended by this attitude. Not only do I have to bend my back for two people at work, but I have to take care of the whole household? We honestly shared all the responsibilities from the very beginning.
And yesterday I found sour borscht in the fridge, the smell of which could kill pests. I believed that after the birth of the child, Mary would take charge. She would go on maternity leave and have more time for the household. But it only got worse. I think it would be much easier if I didn’t have a wife at all. To all this, constant quarrels have now been added. You see, I have to understand my wife, put myself in her shoes. But who can understand me? I don’t go to a sanatorium every day, I go to work. I work in the office and then at home remotely, and I have to keep an eye on everything in the house. And all I really want is to have a little rest.
I don’t understand what my wife does all day on maternity leave that she can’t cook dinner? Or at least put things in their place. Is it really that hard? The child is still only 7 months old, and most of the day the baby just sleeps. During this time, you can at least wipe off the dust. What will happen when we have a second baby? I am still in favor of equality and mutual assistance. I am ready to accept and support everything, but I need the same in return. But for some reason Mary cannot understand this.
I don’t want to destroy the family, because I love our baby very much. But I don’t know how to continue this circus. I think my patience will soon run out.
Whose side are you on in this story?
