I wish I could make it right and go back to my wife, but I traded her in for a passing fancy.

I thought of looking the other way when I had such a good wife! Monica made more money than me, did more for the house and for me personally too. I had heard from her countless times that she loved me, and I had responded in kind. And yet I fell for the first skirt I met!

Anna worked as a street artist, painting portraits. When I was strolling down the alley on my day off, she was working there, and she started asking me to come over. She sketched in front of me, offered to paint a picture because I was very handsome. I listened to her talk my ear off and agreed to everything. I paid a lot of money for a portrait of myself in my hometown, and then I couldn’t explain to my wife why I agreed.

Whenever I passed that place, Anna was there. She was much younger than me, a college dropout who made extra money painting for tourists and locals. Her conversations made me feel younger, we talked about art, books, I treated her to coffee. After her part-time job, we could go for a walk. I did this with no ulterior motive or purpose to cheat, but Anna grabbed hold of me herself and began seducing me in every way possible. So I, stupid as I was, gave in. And then Anna got pregnant and demanded that I leave my wife…

I’m an idiot for not checking and confessing everything to Monica and breaking up with her. It turned out that Anna wasn’t pregnant at all, she just wanted to get married as soon as possible and live in an apartment, even a rented one. I worked to provide for her, and she painted her pictures and couldn’t sell them. My love for her and I rather receded into the background when it came to the family budget, paying the bills, and so on. With Monica, we were fair, evenly matched, and Anna demanded money from me because I was a man.

I broke up with her after five months of living together, and I don’t regret my decision one bit. I want my wife back. I know that she is single, lives in the same apartment and resents me. I resent myself, too – you have to know how to mess up your life so badly. But is it realistic to get our life back? I have already rethought everything, I will never look at another woman again, but I am afraid that Nina will not believe me and will send me away.
