I work in the office as a sales manager, making sure that everyone does their job well, speaks the right words, conducts meetings with clients according to all standards and closes deals that are profitable for us. Often I have nothing to do in the office without my subordinates, except for writing and rewriting reports for the bosses, but lately I am even happy about it. It’s better than going home to my wife and daughter.
My wife’s been unbearable since she had the baby. No matter what I do for her and the baby, it’s all wrong. My mother-in-law scolds me as much as she can, too, and I am just torn between working overtime without any extra pay, and going home, where I am always getting yelled at. Wife on one side, newborn daughter on the other…
It seemed like I was a great husband, my wife used to always say that. Proving to me that I would be a great father too, but I ended up holding my daughter wrong, changing her diaper wrong, cooking for my wife wrong, and in general, I wish I wasn’t in their lives. My mom thinks my wife is just still recovering from childbirth and learning to deal with the baby on her own, and because I’m working late at night, it’s harder for her. But I’ve been like this for three months now, and I know very well that I’d rather sit at work until seven, get home at eight, and only put up with two hours of screaming than leave at half past six and listen to this for three and a half hours.
