The bride was from a poor family, and the wedding was a financial disaster for her family. And in order to buy a beautiful dress, they had to give up a lavish banquet. Of course, she could have bought a cheaper dress. But it was this dress that fell into her heart…
– I remember the first time I put it on and realized: it’s mine! – the girl often recollects. – I’ve been to different salons, tried on many different dresses. But after wearing this one I did not want to take it off. I was told that it is exclusive and handmade.
– This dress will cost us a pretty penny,” wailed the mother of the bride, “but that’s okay, the main thing is that you like it, that you’re happy.
Immediately after the wedding the newlyweds moved in with the parents of the groom. Despite the fact that now they lived in the city, mother-in-law was born and lived half of her life in the same village, where the bride was from, and she remembers her as a little girl. So no discomfort, living with strangers, the young woman did not feel.
– So what are you planning to do with the dress? – her mother-in-law wouldn’t let up. – It is better to sell it, why does it take up space? And the money will not be superfluous.
– I’ll think it over. Let it hang there for now, and then I will decide what to do with it, – answered her daughter-in-law. Her mother had told her that it was bad luck to give her dress to another bride, saying that she was putting her fate in the wrong hands. Of course, no one really believed in omens, but she was not ready to say goodbye to a beautiful dress.
At first the bride did not suspect anything, thinking that her mother-in-law was curious. But it was not like that, and it turned out pretty soon.
A couple of weeks later, the young couple went to visit their second parents. And it just so happened that they stayed there for a few weeks. And just then, the husband’s niece from the same village invited them to her wedding.
– Look, my niece has the same dress as you! And you said it was exclusive, expensive, handmade. You were just trying to get a price, weren’t you?
The situation was very unpleasant. In addition to her husband, her parents also tried to wryly jab the girl about the dress. She was very offended. She herself did not understand how another bride could have the exact same dress.
During the wedding, the bride managed to step with her heel on the hem of the dress and tear it, and also spilled red wine. By the end of the wedding, there was a big red stain on the dress, right in the middle. And the bride complained:
– I rented the dress, it’s expensive, handmade, how will I return it?
A couple of months passed and everyone forgot about the unpleasant situation with the dress at the wedding. And the exact same dress was still gathering dust in a box in the back of the closet. But here a colleague persuaded a girl to lend her this fine dress for the wedding, and she paid well. But then all hell broke loose for the girl. In the morning at work, her colleague threw the box on her desk with the words:
– Aren’t you ashamed to take so much money for such rags? – She took her money back and told everyone at work that the girl was a fraud and wanted to cheat her.
When the girl opened the box and took out the dress, she was stunned. The hem of the dress was torn and there was a big red stain in the middle.
And then everything fell into place. She called her husband’s niece. It was just as she had anticipated. Her mother-in-law had brought the dress to her relative, supposedly from a salon, and had charged her a decent amount for renting it. And, on top of that, after the wedding she reassured her about the ruined dress:
– You do not worry, I’ll talk them up, take it back. But, of course, it will cost extra money.
The girl was shocked at such insolence on the part of her mother-in-law. But the fact that her husband supported her mother in this situation helped her make the final decision.
– So what? So you would have kept that dress in a box. And mom successfully used the situation. As they say, if you want to live – know how to spin.
That same evening, the girl packed her things and moved in with her parents. She could not put up with the way she had been treated. She was disgusted by the hypocrisy and selfishness of her new relatives.
But when she got married for the second time, she bought an even prettier dress, and she still has it! Had she begun to believe in omens? No. But that situation only opened her eyes to what a greedy and hypocritical family she had fallen into.
Do you believe in wedding omens?
