My son was ashamed of me because of my clothes and appearance, saying that I neglected myself and therefore was not invited to his wedding.

Brian used to be a very down-to-earth boy and always set an example for me and was proud of me. It’s hard to forget the day when he came back from school with the report for which he got the highest grade – they were writing about their idol, and my son praised me as much as he could. He was in third grade at the time. After the divorce, Brian went abroad with his mother, studied in London, lived for a while in Israel, and met his destiny there.

While he was a teenager, we often talked on the phone and he came to visit, but they never invited me over. Even when my son grew older and lived alone, he never once invited me to come and rest with him, or to give me an excursion. I was not offended, believing that Brian simply had no time, he was very busy. And then I was shocked by the news of his wedding. I found out not from my son personally, but from my ex-wife. She called to find out how I was planning to get to Israel, because some friend of hers would be going, so maybe we should go together…

I couldn’t find any peace, thinking that my son’s invitation was lost somewhere, that he had already mentioned it on the phone. My ex-wife thought Brian might have forgotten and invited me herself. I spent the savings from my salary for this trip to see my son, but he met me without joy, rather with surprise.

– Why are you here, Dad? You’ve changed so much,” I didn’t think it was a compliment. – Do you at least have a suit? You’re not going to the ceremony itself, are you? It’s embarrassing…

That’s why he didn’t call me-I’m too unfashionable and unkempt, and Israel is a whole other level.

I went home without going to the ceremony. I didn’t feel like celebrating. My son didn’t apologize to me, he didn’t call me to the party, and I didn’t go. After my first and last trip to see them, we didn’t communicate much anymore. I found out the news through my ex-wife about my daughter-in-law’s parents, their firstborn, and the fact that Brian was getting a divorce. His business was failing, and the matchmakers had invested a lot of money in it. Thinking him a fraud, they drove him away. His mother was on a trip around the world at the time, he couldn’t go to London to visit her, so he came to me.

Brian was waiting for support and financial help, not asking, but telling me, because I was “the parent, and I had to provide for the child, otherwise why give birth.

Good or bad, I didn’t let him in the house. His mother is convinced that the in-laws will forgive and return him because someone has to provide for her grandchildren, and I personally do not intend to tolerate Bryan’s behavior. I already have a huge scar on my heart because of what he did to me before his wedding. Since we, as relatives, did not communicate in happiness, why should we do so in sorrow?
