My husband left home for no reason, did not answer the phone, and was hiding at his mother’s house. I found out the reason for this from my mother-in-law

Sometimes it happens that a marriage gets bogged down and a warm, affectionate relationship turns into a gray routine that sometimes makes you want to get away from it. I never thought that about my marriage to Mark, but what if he did? Because there was no other reason why, without any conversation, he packed a couple of suitcases – what he could carry at a time on his own – and left home without even saying goodbye. Everything was fine with us, we had a wonderful life, and we took care of each other with pleasure. Maybe lately the two of us had a lot of work and we didn’t want to go out in the evenings and weekends, but only slept and cleaned the apartment, and such a routine stressed him out. But to leave and not say anything to me? Not to give me the slightest chance to explain myself…

My husband didn’t answer the phone, he ignored messages, trying to cut off all communication with me. I was very afraid that I would only hear about Mark when he sent me the divorce papers. But my sister advised me to call his relatives, and I dialed my mother-in-law first. She and I had a great relationship of trust, and though she pretended at first not to know where Mark was, she soon gave in.

– I’m sorry, I took him in. His friend crashed his motorcycle, and he had a son. You know he grew up without a mother, and now he has no father… Mark wants to adopt him so he doesn’t have to grow up in an orphanage, and you don’t want kids. You’re still young…

This shook me to the core. Did my husband really not know me well enough to think that I would reject his adoption request?

I drove to my mother-in-law’s house that night, where both Mark and the six-year-old boy were waiting for me.

– Let’s do it,” I said from the doorway, “we can be great parents together. Sooner or later we would have talked about the baby anyway, and it’s such a misfortune that we can’t do otherwise.

My husband got emotional. I don’t think he expected that from me. We returned home the same day, not only with two suitcases, but also with some things and toys.
