Emily didn’t get a chance to rest this weekend. Her husband said that his parents missed their grandson, so on Saturday morning the woman had to go to her in-laws at the cottage instead of the amusement park, where her four-year-old son wanted to go, she had to have fun in the garden.
It is noteworthy that the husband himself did not go to his parents, he was unexpectedly thrown an urgent order, and he said that this moneyed client could not be refused.
– You have to understand that once you say no, they won’t come back. So don’t get upset and don’t be angry, next week we’ll all go on rides together.
– We can’t next weekend, I told you that our director has decided to hold a big celebration in honor of the 20th anniversary of the company, it will be something like a team-building event on a Saturday in the country organized with a strict attendance requirement.
– In a week, then. You can go now, because everyone will be leaving the city for the countryside, and you’ll get stuck in traffic and won’t get there until lunchtime.
Emily nodded and, though not particularly eagerly, she packed up her son and set off. Contrary to misgivings, the traffic jam was not very big and soon they reached their destination. As the woman suspected, she was not very welcome.
After the first embrace, both the father-in-law and the mother-in-law quickly left the grandson alone. However, she did not want to quarrel at all, because in fact, Emilie no longer had any relatives left.
Her parents died when her grandson was one year old, and now a woman tries to ensure that the boy does not feel deprived of companionship with the older generation. So she silently changed her clothes, took the gloves she had brought from home and went to work.
Her mother-in-law voiced to her daughter-in-law the work front:
– Now the potatoes will be dug, then the onions and carrots will be weeded, because my back does not bend. And then you are free until the evening, you can run to the ravine, I think the strawberries will be ripe there. I’ll take care of dinner now, the baby’s lost so much weight!
After this mother-in-law sadly shook her head and went inside. Her son, being a small child, was not put to much work, but Emily had to throw the hoe several times, take off her running gloves and rush to the screams of the baby.
Fortunately, and run was not far and the reasons for the boy’s discontent are not terrible for his health: once he accidentally knocked down a neighbor’s dog who came to chat with his mother-in-law, the second – he was frightened by a crawling snake.
Emily asked her mother-in-law:
– Please don’t leave the boy unsupervised!
– What are you, of course, I just turned away, and he’s already screaming. And in general, there is a grandfather walking around, besides – the woman went on the offensive. – No need to raise a mama’s son!
