– My discharge from the hospital was special. My husband worked and came straight from the office to pick me up. I asked him to take a vacation or time off, but the director wouldn’t let me. I asked him to prepare everything for the birth of the baby, so he reassured me that I would have time for everything. We would do the laundry, we would buy it, and we would put everything in order. Yes, of course! – 30-year-old Samantha complained.
– He didn’t keep his promise?
– I came to the maternity hospital empty-handed and late. I forgot my camera at home. All my relatives were fussing and looking at me. We got home and there was a terrible mess. I was embarrassed in front of my guests. There was so much dust that I could draw on the shelves. There was no baby carriage, no dresser either, and he didn’t even bother to buy baby clothes. Good thing my friends gave me diapers, – continues her story of a new mother.
Samantha got married six years ago. And now she and her husband have finally become parents. The birth of a child was put off for a long time to get back on their feet. When things got better, the woman decided to get pregnant.
– I warned the bosses that I am pregnant. They kicked me out at once, because they didn’t need maternitywomen. Others would have fought for their rights, but I decided that it was a sign of rest and distraction. I quietly prepared for the baby, embroidered and enjoyed my time off. We didn’t need money, because my husband had just been promoted,” explains the woman.
Pregnancy went well. The mother-to-be studied literature, went for long walks, and quietly chose baby items.
– My husband did not allow me to buy anything until I gave birth. They say you will give birth while you are in the maternity hospital, I will buy everything. His sister promised to give us a chest of drawers and a bed for the baby. She also put aside other small things for us. When I went to the hospital, she asked me to pick up everything beforehand, wash, wash and cook. I only put the bag together, I wasn’t allowed to do anything else,” Samantha sighed.
However, when his wife went into labor, the father-to-be struck out on some extra work, because he realized that the costs are enormous. Samantha was in labor and worried, because she didn’t even have time to get her clothes out of the washing machine. So they languished in the drum until she came back.
– Good thing my friends gave me clothes and diapers, though I had something to change the baby into. My husband quickly started rushing around, gathering supplies for the baby all over town. But she’s still all dirty, dusty and stained. I had to wash everything and wait until it dried. At that moment I wanted to kill all my relatives and divorce my husband,” Samantha almost cried.
All the days Samantha was tidying up the apartment. Her in-laws didn’t even see her. It has been two months since her son was born, but the woman still does not want to invite anyone to visit.
– The relatives decided that we were already in a rut, so they could come and visit us. With a meadow, with a celebratory dinner… Yeah, you bet! They’ve already organized my discharge,” Samantha said nervously.
Samantha’s mom doesn’t understand why her daughter is unhappy. You see, they did not prepare her apartment. She should have thought of that herself! Nine months sitting at home, what did she do? She could have asked her husband to bring in the furniture and rewash everything. And it wouldn’t have been hard to change her husband’s mind about her shopping. She had to take care of everything herself. Who counts on men?
Do you think Samantha should resent her in-laws, or is it her own fault? Should she really have prepared for the baby’s birth herself? What do you think? What would you have done in her place?
