“It has been 3 years that I have been feeding them. At first, I was just using my own money, then there were so many to the point that my budget was no longer enough. I thought I’d post it on Facebook and saw that people started donating money for dog food and cat food. I actually even rescued some of them. The ones that were in severe condition were taken to a shelter, Fortress of Hope Sanctuary,” she said.
Thanks to the help she receives every day from her donors, Maureen was able to take her work one step further. She ended up creating a shelter to rescue the animals she encountered on her tours. However, it must be said that it has not been easy. On one occasion, she rented an apartment for her furry ones, but was evicted when the neighbors started complaining about the noise they were making. After that, a businessman allowed her to use a property of his, but it was temporary.
Initially, she took only four dogs into her home, but these quickly grew to 100, including several cats. This woman does not stop feeding animals thanks to donations made by people. In addition to feeding and saving stray animals in the Philippines, this woman promotes their adoption. When she finds the furry ones in very vulnerable situations, she rescues them and takes care of them.
