My son is nine years old. He is a very bright and quiet boy. Recently my sister had a wedding. In the invitations she indicated that the format of the celebration was “tea-free. I did not support this idea, but I did not beg to differ – arranged with a friend to babysit her son while we were away at the wedding.
But the night before the wedding, my friend called me and said she was sick. She started apologizing, but was it her fault? I calmed her down and sat in the kitchen pondering. My son was already asleep, and in the morning for the wedding. What to do? I decided to take my son with me to the party. Would my sister turn her own nephew away?
My son-in-law was a rich man, so the wedding had to be a big one. My sister was in turmoil before the wedding – I did not warn her that her son would be with me, so as not to distract. When my sister saw the baby, she immediately changed her face. She literally went into a rage and started yelling:
– Why did you bring your son to the wedding? We didn’t invite children! Your son is an only child, you ruined everything!
I was so ashamed. And my son stood there clapping his eyes, because he didn’t even understand what was going on here. And anyway, why make such a fuss? But, as it turned out, that was just the beginning.
– Let her take the baby. It’s her problem, where she will take it, – said my son-in-law.
I was taken aback. My sister didn’t even want to hear why it had happened. It was out of the question to defend us. I tried to explain something, but it was all in vain.
My mother got mad, packed up her son, and went home. My father and I stayed for the wedding, though we didn’t really want to celebrate anymore. There was no festive mood. I waited for the wedding and went home.
My sister takes offense at me and expects me to apologize. I don’t think I’m guilty. Such behavior doesn’t make my sister look good. Moreover, she is going to be a mother very soon. Should I ask my sister for forgiveness? What would you do if you were me?
