My friend Monica came to visit me with her little son. The boy is 1,5 years old. While our little ones were fiddling with toys, we were drinking tea and talking about life.
And then a strange topic came up. It started with the fact that we were given a place in daycare, but I didn’t want to send my baby to daycare. He was not ready, and I was not ready for the eternal pain. Yes my son loves to play with kids, but he is wary of other adults.
When a friend heard that, she twisted her head. Like, I have in my head all motherhood, and need to rest. Monica said that she was jealous of me, because they still have at least a year to wait.
I wondered what moved her. She was not going to work – her husband earns a lot in their family. It turns out that she was convinced from birth that her mother-in-law would babysit her grandson. The only thing she didn’t count on was that her relative worked from morning till night.
– What’s the big deal, her salary is 7,000 rubles. She’d be better off babysitting her grandson, and I’d be resting. It is a shame that I am so young,” Monica commented.
Her mother-in-law was great, too. She clearly made it clear that she is not going to turn into a free babysitter. She raised her son and has coped with her duty. Since her husband’s mother doesn’t want to babysit the boy, Monica dreams of a daycare ticket.
Honestly, after this conversation, I changed my opinion about her. That is, my mom is sick of her own child. So let her give it up in a children’s home, what’s the difference? What’s the point of having a child if you don’t want to raise it?
I thought about this for a long time, and I remembered my childhood. I didn’t like going to daycare or Grandma’s – I loved hanging out with my parents at home.
That world would never be the same again. Mothers don’t need their own children, and grandmothers live for themselves. Apparently I have an outdated worldview, but I would never stoop to that.
