Emma didn’t want to get married at all. But at the age of 19, she got pregnant by the classmate she had been dating for three years. She had no choice – she did not want her child to be a fatherless child.
Despite the fact that he was older than Emma, he was a real brat and a mama’s boy. But he did not hide from responsibility – he said he would get married and bring up a baby. So they began to prepare for the wedding.
Emma would have been happy to just get married, but her relatives insisted on a big celebration. She did not understand why she should spend such fabulous sums on other people if she could buy all the necessities for the future child for that money. But no one listened to her. They chose the restaurant, the wedding dress, and the guests for her. Who? Her mother-in-law and daughter-in-law!
When they sent Emma to the fitting, she didn’t want to go. The girl imagined in her mind this dress with a million frills and rhinestones. Her sister and her potential husband’s mother were not known for their good taste. When her relatives heard her refusal, they called her ungrateful and were furious. But she didn’t care; she had her own concerns: graduation, exams, preparing for the birth of a child.
She went to the registry office in a simple white sundress that looked good on her face. That’s where all the fun began.
The relatives of the newlyweds did not know that the daughter-in-law decided to stay on her surname. The groom knew about it – he did not object. But the mother-in-law got furious and started yelling right in the festive hall:
– How is it that you do not want to change your last name?
Emma smirked and stepped aside. Tomorrow she was waiting for the continuation – a wedding in the village of her husband with all his relatives. Nerves had to be saved. The marriage had only lasted a few years. John had been a lousy husband and a good-for-nothing father. He sat at his computer every weekend and ignored his family. When Emma ran out of patience, she packed up and left.
Her mother-in-law could not be happy with such an outcome. And our heroine breathed a sigh of relief – she finally felt free and happy.
