After living with my spouse for twelve years we separated. Our divorce was civilized: we did not argue, not mutually hostile, did not divide the hard-earned goods. We lived in my apartment, so my spouse just packed up and left.
At that time our son was barely ten. The child stayed with me, but my father saw him all the time and tried to spend as much time with him as possible. We solved the alimony issue without any scandals, and in case of any additional expenses my father never refused to help me. All our acquaintances, relatives and friends couldn’t understand what caused our divorce, if we really had a perfect relationship with our ex.
Yes, that happens sometimes. He and I were married when we were students. Gradually we grew cold to each other and became complete strangers. No one cheated on anyone, and no one lied to anyone. Two years ago my son became a student, so we had to make up our minds.
– My son dreams of higher education,” I told my ex, “I’m going to pray that he gets a scholarship, because I don’t know if I’ll be able to pay for his education. We are no longer entitled to child support, this is despite the fact that my son can not yet be called an independent unit. Will you participate in his education?
– Absolutely, – my husband told me, – I told our boy to look for a part-time job in his first year – it’s not the best idea. We can earn money without him, and he has to study. I will help you, as before.
Our son is a good boy – he got in on a scholarship. He lived in a dorm, so he had to be given money not only for travel, but also for food and clothes.
My son told me that some of his fellow students worked part-time, but they didn’t have enough time to study because of that, so they constantly had tails, and two of them were even getting ready to be expelled. I understand that a lot of people have to work part-time, but our kid didn’t have that need. I don’t plan on getting married again, I have a man, but I don’t want to live under the same roof with him.
Our father legalized his relationship with a woman a couple of years ago. For me it is still not clear why he was captivated by her, but tastes are not disputed, I will tell only about what concerns my story.
My ex’s wife was three years older than him. The lady had two children, a son a little older than ours. No one knows who the biological father of the lady’s first child is, but the daughter was born in a legitimate marriage, but her father drank himself to death.
My mother-in-law had already left this life, so his new wife and daughter moved into her two-bedroom apartment. The lady gave up her son as soon as he turned eighteen, claiming that she had completely fulfilled her maternal duty to him.
At first, the boy lived with his grandmother, but then his relatives threw him out on the street. The boy had to drop out of school, get a job and rent a place to live. I met him once by chance and I felt so sorry for him, because he had no future.
A year after the lady put down roots in our mother-in-law’s apartment, our father started helping us with delays, and then even giving us money in installments.
One evening I called our father, as I needed to discuss some of the nuances of his continued financial help. When I had called my ex before, he and I always shared our news and could talk about how each of us was doing. This time, however, I barely had time to say hello to him when his wife snatched the phone and started yelling into the phone:
– Don’t you have anything better to do? Don’t you know he’s married? Your son is over eighteen, and you’re still wiping his snot out. If that’s the way you like it, wipe your own snot, and leave my husband alone…
– I didn’t actually call you. In case you didn’t know, he and I are having a baby, so I suggest you watch your mouth.
– All you want from us is money! Didn’t you know he has a family and we don’t owe you anything? If your son needs money, let him go to work!
I did not want to listen to this psychopath and hung up, and a month later my husband called and said that I could call him, as before, at any time convenient for me, since he was again free from the bonds of marriage and was no longer going to do such a stupid thing again!
It is not in my plans to re-establish any kind of close relationship with my ex, but since he is no stranger to me, I sincerely wish him happiness!
