A young girl recently moved into our cooperative house. She took an apartment on the second floor, lives alone, very quiet and withdrawn, almost always sits at home, and if you see her in the street and somehow give to understand that we recognize her, she immediately speeds up and almost runs away from us.
I am an elderly woman, I do not walk far by myself, but I like to go for a walk with other neighbors near the house. We can chat about the news, and about our families. It makes sense that when we walk, one of our neighbors will come out and say hello. But this girl never says hello.
She once pretended to listen to music with headphones and therefore does not hear my “Hello”, but I saw her headphone cord just hanging out.
But that’s far from the biggest problem. The really embarrassing thing is that she never asks anything herself, all through her mom. The girl is clearly an adult, well over eighteen, since she lives alone, and when it was necessary to discuss the receipts, she sent her mother. When a faucet broke in her bathroom and her neighbor on the first floor was flooded, she hid in her apartment and kept quiet until her mother came. Then the woman already apologized for her daughter and negotiated the amount of compensation herself.
I just can’t imagine how anyone could be such a person. Is she that scared of communicating with us? Or does she just not want to communicate with her neighbors?
