My friend Monica asked me to watch her apartment temporarily while she was on a business trip. She has fish, a turtle, and flowers on the windowsill, and you have to look after it all. Her friend had a boyfriend, but he lived with his parents and did not want to look after the animals and the apartment, because he would be required to clean it. So, once in a while he could drop by, but he often warned me about it.
Closer to the return of the owner, I could not feed the animals at lunchtime because I was busy, so I left it for the evening. I arrived at about seven o’clock, didn’t even notice that the kitchen light was on. Like an idiot, I was chatting with a turtle when I heard someone laughing. A woman’s laughter, obviously. I thought my girlfriend was back and hadn’t told me, and her boyfriend was muttering something. Thinking I was disturbing them, I started to sneak back into the hallway to leave when the bathroom door suddenly opened, kicking me in the head with a nice bang. I was wearing socks, slipped into them on the tile for a moment or two, and at the last moment I saw a terrified woman’s face.
Turns out Monica’s boyfriend had gathered some of her friends to decorate the apartment for her return. He had grand plans for a romantic dinner, so they were all sitting together, not expecting me, confident that I had fed the animals for dinner, and the girl who almost nailed me with the door was an acquaintance of Monica’s from work.
No one wanted to hurt me, but that’s how it happened. That girl, by the way, sat next to me all night afterward, holding ice packs on the back of my nose and the back of my head. While the guys were cleaning up, she and I chatted about stuff, and in addition to the injury, I got a date that night. I hadn’t planned on doing anything like that, especially getting to know someone, but thanks to a little accident, I now had a girlfriend.
Who else has had a pretty girl kicked in the head with a door when dating?
