Rex was out for a walk with Ed when they came across another dog that was being attacked by three other dogs. Without hesitation, Rex jumped to the defense of the other canine and started barking ferociously at the assailants. This distraction allowed the victim dog enough time to escape and run away to safety! What an amazing act of bravery from this pup!
Rex gently picked up the hummingbird and brought it home to his family. His parents quickly got to work, helping revive the little bird using a humidifier and sugar water mixture. After some time, the hummingbird was finally stabilized and able to fly again! In memory of Rex’s heroic rescue, his family decided to name him “Hope”.
Ed has been caring for the baby squirrel since she was discovered abandoned last month. He named her Lucky because, as he put it, “she’s a survivor.”
CBS Los Angeles reports that Ed feeds Lucky every two hours and keeps her warm in a special nest made out of towels and T-shirts.
No one knows how the story exactly ended, but many say that Hummer and Rex started to live together in Ed’s backyard and they were very happy.
In one video, Ed narrates a compilation of clips showing the bird and dog playing together. The affection between them is evident as they chase each other around in apparent glee. In another clip, the bird hops onto the dog’s back and rides him like a horse! In still another scene, the unlikely friends take a nap together on Ed’s bed. It’s clear that these two enjoy spending time with each other!
