My child threw himself on my neck and cried:
“Mom, I’m never going to Grandma’s again. I never want to go to Grandma. Mommy, please.”
And it was only three days that the children stayed with my husband’s father and mother. They live in the country, in a private house. My youngest child is 4 years old, and the eldest is 6 years old. Grandfather was so persuaded to let the children stay at their house. And here’s the reason I found out only later.
Helena (the heroine of the story) never got along with her husband’s parents. More than once her mother-in-law expressed the opinion that Helena was not her son’s equal. With this Helena
could still put up with it, but she never liked the atmosphere in her mother-in-law’s house. They were always fighting and scandalized. Even her own son didn’t want to visit them. He was in a bad mood after visiting his parents.
As time went on. They only went to visit her husband’s parents on holidays. They could not refuse a trip to their father-in-law’s anniversary. Especially since the grandchildren had not seen their grandparents for a long time.
The festivities went well. At the jubilee, not even a woman was hurt by an unpleasant word, which was surprising. Only the grandfather persuaded his grandchildren to stay with them. He even promised the boys that he would take them on a snowmobile ride.
Of course, the children were won over by their grandfather’s offer. They began to persuade Helena to let them stay with their grandparents. Helena gave in to their entreaties, even though the grandparents had never even bought the children candy in all that time. The fact that Helena had wanted to paint the walls for a long time, but it could not be done when the children were home, also played a role. If only she could have predicted that this would happen…
The children arrived and immediately burst into bitter tears. The youngest began to cry, and then the eldest began to do so. They didn’t want to say anything to mom and dad, but it took some time for the truth to become clear.
Grandpa took the boys on a snowmobile and they had fun in the snowy forest. Only Grandma started harrassing their mother in front of the children. And when the boy started to defend his mother, Grandma took him by the scruff of the neck like a dog and dragged him to the dog house. The boy was in his home clothes, and this was happening in the cold of winter. She also took her older son outside and slammed the door behind the children.
Grandpa was in the garage at the time. He jumped out when he heard the children crying. He said he was shocked by what he saw. For the first time in his life, he raised his hand to his wife. Grandpa asked the boys not to tell their parents anything. He loved his grandchildren and was afraid he would never see them again.
