The Careless Husband

I never expected a relationship to be easy. They say that love is like war – it’s either you or you. So with my husband, we were constantly at war. Married life with him was like living on the coast – you never knew if it would be a sunny and calm day or if the waves and storm would roll in.

When we had a child together the sea calmed down for a while. We were filled with tenderness and hope, planning the future of our tiny son, arguing sweetly about what he would become, though it was still a long way off.

We returned to fighting after my son turned one year old. Everything went downhill again, the same fights over nothing. The baby brought us together for a while, and to avoid fighting with my husband so often, I got a job as soon as I could. It was a fresh breath of air, plus it was interesting, and with a nice bonus in the form of a salary. There I also made a lot of good friends and acquaintances, with whom I communicate to this day. And there I met a great guy. He was five years younger than me, but he was very handsome. Knew I had a husband and a child, but it didn’t bother him, and since he found out my husband and I weren’t okay, he began to talk me into divorcing me and marrying him.

I didn’t think anything of it until my husband came to me and told me he was seeing someone else and wanted a divorce. Of course, I have to take the baby, they can keep the apartment too, but I have to deal with everything else as I want. For appearances, of course, I pretended to be very upset, hurt, but that was exactly what I needed. He felt guilty, and I was able to get together with a good man who dusted me off.

I registered my second marriage earlier than my husband did, and that made him very sad, he chuckled on the phone to me after he got the invitation to the wedding, saying that he didn’t expect me to recover so soon. I think he still doesn’t know that they started courting me much earlier than he had found a mistress.
