I happened to hear the whole conversation between my husband and his sister Samantha.
For years I had lived by the principle that I shouldn’t interfere in my husband’s relationship with his in-laws. That was the advice my mother gave me when I got married. But what my mother did not consider was that my father had perfectly adequate relatives, unlike my husband.
– What to do? After all, Samantha has three children! She wouldn’t be able to take care of her father!
– Why can’t she take care of your father if they live together?
This story started a long time ago. My husband and Samantha’s father have been in need of care for a long time. My husband and I go to his father’s house very often and help him. He can take care of himself. But he can’t go to the hospital or the store by himself anymore. That is why my husband and I do it. Samantha and her children live with my husband’s father.

She understood that in the event of her father’s death, the house would have to be shared with her brother, so she demanded that her brother take her father. And her father had to give her the whole house.
– We have children. But we also have an apartment. And Samantha has nothing!

The whole problem is that you and I have been saving and paying the mortgage for years so that we could have an apartment. What did Samantha do to have her own place? Nothing! My husband talked to his sister about it.

– And if I do not want a smaller house? Why do not you think about my comfort?

We, of course, took my father-in-law in with us. He’s not very hard to take care of. He tries to do everything himself. Well, of course, we have to help him. But Samantha calls every week and again makes some demands and claims: either she runs out of money, or she needs to be taken somewhere by car.
