Romantic classical music is piped into the kennels at the Samut Prakan City Animal Shelter in Thailand several times a day, but usually, the dogs just lay around and ignore it. However, when one volunteer started playing his cello for them recently, something amazing happened; all of the animals outside suddenly came over to listen! Even better, they were so charmed by the music that many began wagging their tails and licking the musician’s hands as he played.
Olds said, “I’ve never seen dogs more excited. They were all jumping up and down and wagging their tails.” Watch the video below to see how adorable this is!
“It was a pretty surreal experience, to see all these dogs just chilling and taking in the music. It definitely made my day seeing them so happy.”
Since starting his musical performances for the animals at the shelter, Chad has seen a noticeable difference in their behavior — they now seem more relaxed and content.
When he was young, Chad’s parents divorced and his father relocated to Florida. This left a major void in the family that music helped to fill. From an early age, Chad showed exceptional promise as a musician.
In junior high and high school, he participated in select honor choirs and jazz ensembles while also developing into an award-winning pianist and songwriter. After graduating from Juilliard School of Music with honors, Chad continued his education at Yale University where he studied voice with internationally renowned soprano Dawn Upshaw. He then completed his studies at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where he worked closely with some of the world’s finest musicians including legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman who called him “a rare find – someone with great potential both as a singer and musician.”
