Seattle dog figures out buses, starts riding solo to the dog park

Meet Eclipse, Seattle’s most famous dog. For the past three years, this clever canine has been melting hearts on the Internet with her very special routine. Every day when commuters ride the bus or train in Seattle, Eclipse waits for her stop and then hops off – just like any other passenger would! The only difference is that she does it all alone since her mom doesn’t usually travel with her. Since then, Eclipse became a regular on the bus and knows how to ride it alone. Sometimes she even takes different buses to get to her favorite spot in the park. “I think she likes going downtown and sees it as an adventure,” said Eclipse’s owner Bryan Smith.

What an intelligent dog! This got me thinking… What if there were a dog that rode the bus to my stop? I think it would make waiting for the bus much more enjoyable!

We all love taking our furry friends out for a walk, but what about when they want to go for a ride? A woman in Minneapolis has been spotted on the city’s Metro Transit buses with her dog, and according to riders, the pup likes to hop up onto seats next to strangers and watch out the window.

Metro Transit spokesperson Howie Padilla said that while he’s happy to see that the dog is enjoying using public transit, it’s important that pet owners make sure their animals are properly secured. “We always encourage people travelling with pets – or really any type of cargo – whether it be a bag or animal carrier…to please use something so it doesn’t pose a risk or inconvenience fellow passengers,” Padilla told local news station KARE 11.
