My friends David and Maria live in Mezhvodnoye (a village in the Crimea). Last summer the guys went to a christening, where David was to be the godfather. And after the church ceremonies, as it is supposed to be, there was a feast. It was there that they got to know the godfather’s grandparents. The whole evening the venerable couple could not be happy about their grandson’s godfather. They were thrilled to be related to such a good man as David was in their eyes.
They especially liked the fact that Mary and her husband lived on the Black Sea shore.
-What a wonderful godfather he was,” the grandmother could not be happier. – In addition, he lives on the sea – how wonderful! It’s beautiful! Now there will be someone to visit at the sea. And there will be no need to rent a house. After all, now there are such nice relatives. How wonderful, David, how good it is that we’re related to you!
Well, who would have thought my godson’s grandmother would have been so faithful to the promise she made at the christening. We arrived in Mezhvodnoye a couple of weeks later. However, god-child’s father John called in advance David and asked whether parents can come and stay for three or four days. After the home council Maria and her husband decided to take their newfound relatives as guests. After all, as-is inconvenient to refuse them. It was the height of the season, David and Maria were away at work all day long, so it was not convenient to have guests. Maria even had to take time off from work to meet the guests properly.
A friend’s relatives arrived, they stayed for a while, sunbathed on the beach, and then, with words of gratitude, packed up and left.
In general, as they had a small two-room apartment and had to live in the room next door to the parents of her friends, Maria decided to refuse the next time, if suddenly they decided to make them “happy” with their visit again. Another thing is when her friends and godson come to visit – they will be happy guests. But parents of friends are already too much. Especially since it’s the height of the season and you need to save up some coin to last another winter.
After hearing about this situation, there was only one thing that surprised me. The family of friends, sort of already respectable age people (both already far over sixty). They had already raised their children and grandchildren. What was that? They decided to take advantage, so to speak, of their family situation and use their relatives as a free boarding house? at the Black Sea? Yes, they were so lucky. And they promised to come back.
