My son got married last year. I did not approve of his choice, frankly admit it. And he was only 19 years old, what’s the rush? But he did not want to listen to me. Now the newlyweds are on tour for the second year: now they live with me, now with my in-laws. They are so principled that they can’t get along with anyone, and they don’t even think about their own apartment.
My Karl is very stubborn. If he decides something, you can’t change his mind. When he told me he was getting married, I realized that there was no point in dissuading him. The bride is just like him – two peas in a pod.
My son told me that he is not a little boy anymore, and he knows very well that family is a big responsibility. Carl found some kind of part-time job and started to play the big producer. So as not to spoil relations with my son, I chose a neutral position and just watched what was going on. I did not interfere in their relationship.
My sister-in-law was also shocked when she found out that her daughter was getting married. She tried to talk the kids into waiting, to no avail. Anyway, we had our wedding. We didn’t make any pompous parties, as we had no money. We got married, celebrated in a small circle and went back to our usual life.
After the wedding, the kids moved into a rented apartment. They were both working, so they had to drag it out somehow. But then we found out that they had dropped out of school because of their work. They would have been expelled by now if my in-laws and I hadn’t realized it.
They came back to the university and financial problems started. They couldn’t save money, and that was the main problem. When my son asked to live with me, I gave up my room. I wasn’t going to leave my kid without a roof over his head.
At first it was all quiet and peaceful. I did not touch them, and they did not touch me. True, the household chores were exclusively on me, my daughter-in-law did not strain. But I did not make a scene, I thought it was all temporary. But the kids were in no hurry to move out!
I began to make comments. I was tired of being a maid and providing for them. They perfectly emptied the fridge together, and they didn’t even buy bread at home. My son was always finding excuses, which annoyed me even more. Immediately after school the kids went on a binge, and I had to clean up everything myself.
When my patience ran out, I decided to take them out to talk. They flipped out and ran to my sister-in-law. She started to reproach me for bringing the kids up. Well, well! More, more!
At my sister-in-law’s, they also only lasted a few months. Things were going better there, though, because my son got a job and started giving me money for groceries. But after another session they got on my sister-in-law’s neck again. When she reprimanded them, they packed their bags and came back to me.
These tours have been going on for two years now. They finished their studies, but they don’t want to look for work. My sister-in-law and I made them a condition: if they didn’t find a job within a month, they would pack their suitcases and go on a free voyage. They raised them to be deadbeats…
They’re running around like little kids. Why did you get married? If you’ve decided to take that step, it’s time to start a grown-up life. It’s good that at least my sister-in-law is adequate, we’re on the same page. Let’s see how this story ends.
