I don’t like to remember this day, but I want to share my story with you. An ordinary day. We were going to the countryside with my family. To relax and celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived in the woods. While the shish kebab was being prepared, we walked around and gathered autumn leaves.
We went back to the car. I decided to feed my son some cottage cheese. He ate a spoonful and refused. It was a pity to throw it away – I finished it. After about half an hour I felt sick. I spent the whole picnic lying in the car.
When we got home, my husband fed me pills. But it didn’t make me feel any better. He decided to call an ambulance, no matter how I resisted. The paramedics insisted on hospitalization. I would have really wanted my husband to go with me, but he had to stay with my son.
I was very worried about whether they could handle it since the baby was on HF. He wasn’t taking any porridge or other human food. I called my mother and asked her to pick me up from the hospital in an hour. The answer I got was:
– I’m not going anywhere at night! You can take care of yourselves.
Nobody cared what happened, who my son was with, how I was feeling. At the hospital they did an ultrasound, took some tests and diagnosed me. Appendicitis. I alerted my husband on the phone about the emergency surgery and told him I would keep them informed.
Immediately after the surgery, I started asking for the phone to call home. My husband said my son was crying, he was hungry. There is no formula – we have to go to the store. But no one wants to bring food or babysit the baby.
I called the father and started literally begging him to help my husband. He came down. He brought the formula and barked:
– Don’t count on me anymore!
All the days, none of the relatives even came to see my husband. He handled his son on his own. On the third day Andrew called his mother, and she rushed over from another city. She helped him a lot, even came to visit me in the hospital. But it would have been better if she hadn’t. When she brought my son in, he reached out to me. My mother-in-law commented:
– “Mommy left you, didn’t she?
– Why would you say such a thing? I’m in the hospital,” I shrieked.
I was shocked at what she said. She was a master of caustic words, but I had no choice – without the help of a relative, my husband could not cope. I am very jealous of those people who have a strong bond with their parents. I always dreamed of building a normal relationship with my in-laws based on love and understanding. But – alas.
