No matter how many times I warned my mother-in-law not to make late visits, she wouldn’t listen

For some reason I don’t understand, my mother-in-law believes she has the right to invade my family with absolutely no warning. My son is one year old. And I’ve accustomed him to a routine. If he does not fall asleep in time, and that time comes around 8 pm, then I’m unlikely to put him to bed at all. Well, two hours of agony is guaranteed.

It is useless to talk about it with my mother-in-law. How many times have I warned her not to make late visits, she does not listen to my pleas. For some reason she doesn’t understand that it’s not a good idea for her to visit her one-year-old grandson at night.
I work late,” she says. She comes in for half an hour, she’ll mooch with him, amuse him, excite him, play with him, and then I spend half the night tormenting the baby. He gets restless and screams.

What should I do?

Today I started putting the baby to bed as usual. My husband and I have already picked up a movie to watch. But then the doorbell rang. My husband opened the door and saw his mother.

It’s very difficult to describe my feelings. I was angry. Angry. He was just starting to get his fangs in and he was acting restless. So we appreciated every quiet hour. I tried to pull myself together. You have to stay calm. After all, this is my husband’s mother we’re talking about. Even though she’s a prima donna. She doesn’t mean him any harm. She’s just being peculiar.

I pretended to look miserable suffering, clutched my cheek with my hand and began to shout:
– You’ve come at such a good time! My tooth hurts – I have no strength to endure. I do not want to go alone to the hospital at night. So sit with the baby for a while, and we will soon.

The husband could not understand anything. He began to get dressed in a hurry, and we rushed out of the house.

What kind of a show you put on here? – My husband asked.
No way. At least we can go to the disco. And do not forget to turn off the phone! – I told him.

We got home after midnight. My husband’s mother had to take a cab home. The baby was in the crib, and there were dirty diapers and soiled clothes lying around. Toys, pacifiers, rattles – an artistic mess, in short. Everything was chaotically scattered.

The mother-in-law sat down in a chair and appeared to have fallen asleep. She looked exhausted. She was resting on the table. Her glasses were next to her. Her makeup was smudged. And her skirt was covered in baby poop. She came in less often since then. And not late at night.
