An acquaintance of mine named Anthony always wanted a secure life at someone else’s expense. He tried very hard to get a girl from a wealthy family to like him. I could see from the outside that he especially loved her, and nothing good would come of such a marriage. But the guy was sure that a wealthy wife would be the key to his happy and carefree life. One would have believed it if she herself had known how to make money. It turned out that the family there is supported by his mother, who owns several large outlets in our city.
I tried to warn my friend:
– You don’t think they’re going to support a deadbeat, do you? It’s good to be independent and have your own business.
– Oh, come on. We already have a baby on the way. They trust me completely! – The groom rejoiced.
I couldn’t understand Anthony at all, because I didn’t think it was right to do that to my girlfriend. It’s just not fair. An adequate man should work and support his own family by himself. However, this was not about my acquaintance. After a while I wondered how he was doing. I asked him where he was working. It turned out that neither he nor his wife were doing anything, they were just sitting at home. All day they play computer games, watch TV shows or sleep. Their mother feeds them. I even felt a little envious, because Anthony had achieved what he wanted.
– My wife’s mom is wealthy, we’ll never need a job. – Anthony rejoiced, bragging about his well-to-do life.
Perhaps it would have gone on like that for a long time, but problems with the business began, the income decreased several times over. Mom had to offer her daughter and son-in-law a job. A month had passed since our last meeting. And then my phone rang: in a worried voice, Antoni asked me to lend him five thousand rubles for two weeks.
– I would go through the interview, get an advance, and pay him back. We’re completely broke. – My friend said sadly.
Thus ended his carefree life. Both he and his wife have been working ever since. He paid the money back. So much for a well-to-do family. You should not rely on someone, you need to be independent and self-reliant. Then you can feel successful and happy.
