I was only 22 years old when I was left alone without a husband, with a little David in my arms. My son was only two years old at the time. My husband left because he was tired of the constant worries, he had to earn money and spend it on his family.
And he didn’t like it. Mro, what to spend it on the family, if it is better to spend it on yourself, and on your mistress. No matter what kind of husband he was, it was easier for me. And with his departure, everything fell on my shoulders. I put David in day care and went to work myself. I remember sometimes I was so tired that I couldn’t feel my legs, but my house was always in order, the food was cooked, and the baby was fed and clean.
My mother always taught me that, and our generation was more hardy. I admit that I spoiled my son a little. At 27, David doesn’t even know how to fry potatoes. But recently he got married, I thought he finally got a wife, and will look after this chill, and I’ll do my hobbies, maybe some other work to go to another job. In short, I’ll live my life in peace. And lo and behold, my son told me that he and his wife were going to stay with me for a while. I, of course, was not particularly happy, but agreed, well, let them stay. She would cook for her son, do his laundry, and I would be patient for a while. But it was not there. Kate was a real piece of work. She didn’t clean up after herself from the table, or wash dishes, or wash clothes after herself or David, not even a basic sweep of the room-she did nothing.
For three months I was taking care of three people. Did I need it? What did my daughter-in-law do? Since David had decided he was going to support the family, Kate didn’t work anywhere. From morning till night, until David got home from work, she was either out with her friends or on the phone. I work, too. When I came home, the house was a mess, everything was scattered, the fridge was empty, there was no food ready. And I had to go to the supermarket, buy food, cook everything, and then wash the dishes. Kate didn’t have a shred of conscience. She even managed to come to me when I was washing the dishes and bring me a plate which she had kept in her room for days. She forgot, and that plate already had gnats on it, and everything you want. The next time my daughter-in-law brought me a plate, I immediately told her that if she had had a conscience, she would have washed the dishes at least once.
And what do you think, she apologized and did something? No, the next day with a scandal, she and her son left and rented an apartment. My son also said that I wanted to ruin his family. With what? That I told my daughter-in-law to at least wash the dishes? Well, thank God, now I will live in peace and cleanliness, and I will not have to clean up after anybody. These young people these days, I’ll tell you, they’re rubbish. They’re useless.
