My husband just doesn’t know what to do right now. The whole thing is that I want us to renovate my apartment, the apartment that Adam and I have lived in since we got married. And my mother-in-law is demanding that we renovate her apartment.
– My son won’t do repairs in someone else’s apartment! – yells my mother-in-law.
My mother-in-law considers my two-room apartment, where my husband and I have lived for seven years, to be such an apartment. I bought the two-room apartment before I got married. My mother-in-law didn’t like me right away. She did not like the fact that there was now another woman in the life of her only, beloved, best son in the world.
When Adam and I got married, my mother-in-law wanted us to live with her. But I immediately refused it. We started living in my apartment. Mother-in-law often came to us and made scandals. She tried to get Adam to come and live with her. Of course, I quickly got tired of it. I had a serious talk with my mother-in-law and after that she stopped coming to visit us.
Two years before we got married, I did repairs in my apartment and so we saved up money to buy a car. In three years we bought a nice, albeit not new, car. My mother-in-law didn’t like it very much. After all, Adam made more money, so the car belonged more to Adam. And in the divorce it will be divided in half.
My mother-in-law didn’t give up hope that my marriage to Adam wouldn’t last long, and we would divorce him. And then I got pregnant. Adam and I were very happy about that news. My mother-in-law wasn’t. We had money and so we decided to make repairs in the apartment. And, of course, to equip a nursery for our baby. My mother-in-law, on the other hand, when she found out that she was about to become a grandmother, she was very upset. The chances of me and Adam getting divorced were much less likely now.
When my mother-in-law found out that we wanted to renovate the apartment, she had a terrible row.
– Why would my son do repairs in someone else’s apartment? – My mother-in-law became indignant.
– But he lives in this apartment! It’s our apartment! – I tried to explain to my mother-in-law.
And she demanded that Adam make repairs in her apartment. And the fact that my mother-in-law demands that the repairs be done for the money I earned, she is not interested at all.
– And let us now do mom repairs, and we’ll wait with the repairs while our child will grow up, because he can in fact and draw the wallpaper. Then the repairs will have to do it again! – tries to reassure me my husband.
But to wait for another six years to repair, I do not want to. And to give the money to repair the apartment mother-in-law, who for so many years has never once congratulated me on my birthday, I do not want either. I have told my husband that if he is going to renovate his mother’s apartment, he will live with her, not me. My husband just doesn’t know what to do now. Well, it’s his choice: Whatever he decides, that’s the way it’s going to be.
