My spouse and I have been together for most of my life. Our oldest son is thirty-five and our daughter is in her thirties. I have always been proud of my children, they have graduated, work in prestigious positions, but both my daughter and son have a huge disadvantage, they do not want to burden themselves with their families.
My son works as a chief programmer for a large company. His job is prestigious, and his salary is more than decent. My son recently bought a luxurious apartment, and is now saving up for a car. Financially his son is very well provided for, and from time to time he even helps us with money. My husband and I have been dreaming about our children having families and children for many years.
However, neither son nor daughter are in a hurry to have a family, and they prefer to be engaged in their own careers. On my son’s birthday, I asked him when we would celebrate his wedding, because he has already reached certain heights. My son never brought his brides to us, although my daughter told me that he had had girlfriends when he was a student, but he didn’t get on well with them.
– I’m not going to get married and don’t expect any grandchildren either, I prefer to live for myself,” my son told me then.
His words even made my eyes darken. My spouse began to calm me down and said that things can still change a hundred times, but I have deep doubts about this. My spouse and I are already men of age and so dream to nurse grandchildren, and if fate is kind to us, and great-grandchildren.
All right, let the son does not want to start a family, now a lot of men do not want to take responsibility, but I do not understand our daughter. When she was fifteen she told us that she was not getting married, that she was not going to have children. We then did not take her words seriously, we put it all down to adolescence, but now I think that at that time she should have put her brains in place.
Now my daughter is almost thirty: she is a real beauty and smart girl. My daughter has been living with her boyfriend for four years now, and they’ve been dating even longer. One day I asked when they were going to the registry office, but they began to deny and my daughter said to me:
– Mom, what are you talking about, what wedding? Nowadays marriages are not relevant! We’re doing just fine without a stamp in our passport!
I asked my daughter to at least marry her boyfriend, I even talked to her boyfriend about it, but they just laughed at me and said they were fine with everything.
I was against cohabitation from the beginning, but who listened to me. My husband and I hoped that they would live for a year without a stamp in their passports, and then get married, and then the grandchildren will come, but it has been more than one year, and the daughter and her chosen one in the registry office is in no hurry.
My daughter told me that she is busy with her career and has no time for her family. Doesn’t she understand that a woman’s happiness is not in her career, but in her family and children. I can understand when my son answers me this way, but I cannot understand my daughter in this matter.
Almost all of my friends are already babysitting grandchildren, but my children are in no hurry to please me with grandchildren. So I sit and think about that, maybe I am to blame for the fact that they do not want to start a family and have children, maybe I raised them wrong?
The other day my daughter and I had a big fight. She ran into me that day for tea, and I just that day a friend called me and boasted that she was a grandmother for the second time, and she has a daughter three years younger than mine. I wanted to get through to her daughter, so that she realized that a woman should give birth before thirty, while she has a young and strong body, so as not to take the baby to first grade as an old woman. I told her then that I had already had two children at her age, and the board then got really mad at me and said that she had no intention of discussing the subject with me. Doesn’t she understand that by cohabiting with a man she is in an uncertain status, that I have not been able to form proper family values in her?
Why are my friends’ children getting married and having children, but my daughter and son are fixated on working and making money? I so want to have grandchildren, but I guess my dream will never come true!
